Jon Onabowu is a Nigerian-British drummer and bandleader whose sound blends contemporary jazz with groove-driven influences from funk, hip-hop, and gospel. As the founder of the Cosmic Fusion residency at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London (now in its third year) he has helped shape a new generation of live-focused, groove-led jazz in the city.

His debut album, Now’s The Time, brings that same ethos into a recorded form with compositions such as The Bounce feat. David Mrakpor, When The Light Finds Us feat. Anatole Muster & Brandon Rose and The Emergence, all available for streaming and to be added to your playlist. Recently listed on COLORSXSTUDIOS Community Picks Top 20, Somewhere Soul, Fresh Finds Jazz and UK Jazz on Spotify.

Alongside his own work, Jon is an in-demand collaborator and performer, having toured and performed with artists including Theo Croker, Venna, Balimaya Project and Bubby Lewis.
